Gregory A. McFarlane
Gregory A. McFarlane was born in Kingston,
Jamaica and migrated to the United States in
1996. He practices primarily in Criminal
Defense, Personal Injury, Workers'
Compensation and Civil Litigation. Gregory
is a former Public Defender and has handled
hundreds of felony, misdemeanor and juvenile
cases. He credits his successes in the
courtroom to the trial skills he developed
during his tenure as a Public Defender. He
also gained significant Workers'
Compensation experience while working for a
prestigious Insurance Defense Firm.
Gregory began his career as an advocate for individuals charged with crimes. He tried one of his first cases before graduating law school as a certified legal intern. The case was a first degree felony Car Jacking and ended with a dismissal of the charges. He has since handled hundreds of criminal cases including numerous jury trials. He credits his success at trial to his careful investigation of the facts of each case and his persistence and perseverance in fighting for justice. Gregory has applied those tried and proven techniques to his representation of the injured. He has had significant success in recovering compensation for his clients injured in car accidents, slip and fall and work related accidents.
Honors/Awards
While attending the University of Miami
School of Law, Gregory served as a Student
Bar Association Senator and two terms as the
American Bar Association Representative for
the law school. The American Bar Association
also appointed him as Lt. Governor to the
Fifth Circuit. He is a recipient of both the
Dean's Honor and Service Scholarships and
was inducted into the Honor Society of Bar
and Gavel, as well as the Phi Delta Phi
Legal Fraternity. He was featured in the
University of Miami Student Spotlight for
securing an internship with
Musician/Entrepreneur Luther Campbell. He
was selected by Professor Donna Coker as a
Research Assistant and assisted in her
research work on the Violence Against
Women's Act.
Bar and Court Admissions
Gregory is admitted to the Florida Bar. He
is a Director of the Jamaican American Bar
Association. He is also a member of the
Broward County Bar Association.
